In 2013 the new 12,000 seater arena, The SSE
Hydro, opened at the SECC, a major new venue for Scotland and
an important element in delivering the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
This area houses some of Scotland's most important assets along the River Clyde, attracting thousands of visitors every week.
The Glasgow Science
Centre, IMAX, the SECC, Pacific
Quay and the Armadillo are all located here, making this an
area where visitors to the city will come for the entertainment and
tourist attractions. One of the major successful developments is
the creation of The SSE Hydro, a major new venue
for Scotland, expected to develop a reputation as one of the top
venues in the world.
On the South Bank of the river, Creative Clyde provides a focus
for creative and digital activity, with BBC and STV both based
there.
