Some 80,000 people attended events in Glasgow's new SSE Hydro Arena in the first week it opened.
Rod Stewart was the first artist to take to the stage on the
first night and such was the demand for tickets he performed three
additional shows on the Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Jesus Christ Superstar, Fleetwood Mac, Bruno Mars and
Danny Elfmanan also contributed to the success of the first
week.
John Langford, the Hydro's director of concerts, events and
ticketing said: "We couldn't really have asked for a better opening
week. Sell out shows. Over 80,000 through the doors. Glasgow has
stepped onto the global stage.
"The SSE Hydro has changed the skyline and the live music stage
of Glasgow - the rest of the year will be busy and it's not set to
slow down."
