16 August 2011

The lineup for the 5th October event includes UK Dubstep star Katy B, as well as Jessie J and Alexis Jordan.

The MOBO Awards came to Glasgow for the first time in 2009 when the show was transported out of its birthplace in London, and taken to the SECC Glasgow. MOBO CEO and Founder Kanya King MBE says, "We had such a fantastic experience when we hosted the MOBO Awards here in 2009, that it felt very natural for us to want to return and build on our great relationship with the city."

Alesha Dixon, co-host of the action packed 2010 Awards Show which took place at the Liverpool Echo Arena, commented: "The music scene here in Glasgow is very vibrant, no doubt because of the passionate audiences here in Scotland. I adore working with MOBO as they have such a valuable and pioneering ethos which translates into a powerful programme of events."

Responding to Glasgow being described as 'Europe's secret music capital' Scott Taylor, Chief Executive for Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, declared, "Well, it's no secret anymore, is it?"

Both the 2013 and 2015 shows will mark special occasions for MOBO and for Glasgow, with the 2013 show taking place in the new Hydro National Arena next to the SECC and the 2015 show marking the 20th anniversary for MOBO. Paul Bush OBE, Chief Operating Officer for EventScotland, said: "It's really exciting to secure three out of the next five years is fantastic, particularly putting it in the new arena in 2013 will be great. "But it also really just confirms Scotland's place as a perfect stage for events, and that Glasgow is a great music city as well."

Ticket information is available from the MOBO Awards website.

Creative Clyde is delivered in partnership with Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City Council, Creative Scotland, BBC Scotland, University of Glasgow, Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), STV, Raise the Roof Productions, Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Film City Glasgow, and Glasgow Science Centre.
