Bus

There are regular buses running throughout the day from the city centre and surrounding areas that service the SECC, Pacific Quay and Govan areas.

Fastlink

In response to the regeneration of the Clyde waterfront, works are presently underway for the new Fastlink dedicated rapid transit bus system which will link Pacific Quay and the new Southern General Hospital directly to Glasgow city centres main transport hubs.

Some of the key features of the system will be:

• dedicated ways and lanes, high priority measures on road and at junctions
• state of the art vehicles
• high quality infrastructure (such as halts, real-time information, CCTV)
• halts located at 500m - 1000m spacing
• high frequency service at peak times

Road

The city stands at the crossroads of the M8, M74, M77 and M80, offering quick links to the north, south, east and west. Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee, Aberdeen and Carlisle are all within reach via trunk routes - as are the three international airports at Glasgow, Edinburgh and Prestwick. The M74 links directly with the northern end of the M6. The new M74 extension has further enhanced the City Centre's links and improved travel times.

Rail - National

A high speed rail link to the UK is one of the 10 key National Developments established by Scotland's Government. The creation of such a link will allow journeys to be made from Scotland to London in less than 3 hours.

Apart from London, no other city in the UK has an integrated suburban rail network to rival Glasgow's. The two main-line terminals are at Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street stations. Queen Street offers a train every 15 minutes to Edinburgh, with a journey time of around 50 minutes. Glasgow Central has many services per day to major English destinations such as Preston, Manchester, Birmingham and London.

Rail - Local

Both the Exhibition Centre (SECC) and the Partick Interchange, are serviced by the Argyle Line with regular services running from Glasgow Central. There is a covered walkway from the station to SECC. from where you walk past the Crowne Plaza Hotel and over the river to Pacific Quay

Underground

Glasgow's underground subway system is affectionately known as the 'Clockwork Orange'. Yes, it might simply go round and round in a big circle, but it does make getting from A to B easy and quick - a complete circle of the 15 subway stations takes about 15 minutes. The nearest subway stations to Creative Clyde are: Cessnock, Kinning Park, Ibrox, Govan and Partick.

Bicycle

If you're looking for a more energetic means of getting to and from Creative Clyde then you'll find good quality public foot paths and cycle routes from the city centre on both sides of the river.

Boat

This summer there are two different ferry operators Clyde Link and Clyde Clippers who each run 4 return trips daily from Braehead (first 10:15) via Yorkhill Quay and Pacific Quay to the Broomielaw in the city centre (last 16:00). Commuters, shoppers, tourists and locals all use these ferries as an easy and fun way to travel up and down the river.

Plane

Glasgow Airport is Scotland's largest and is located only 15 minutes from the city centre, offering around 60 flights per day to and from London and links to more than 90 destinations worldwide. Some 7 million passengers use the airport every year, where £200 million of investment has been made over the last 10 years. Both Prestwick International and Edinburgh International are about 45 minutes from Glasgow, each of which has many UK and international services.

Europe's first 'flying boat' service was launched in the Clyde in August 2007, taking passengers from the City Centre to the Highlands and Islands. The city's heliport is located beside the Clyde, at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.
