BBC Hackdays in Glasgow

17 April 2014

The Future of News Curation: How might we curate and connect our News Storytelling, in the age after "the stream"?

Organised by BBC and the Global Editors Network, these Hackdays will gather teams from the best Scottish, English and Irish media outlets, and teams from Universities involved in the News industry. The teams will represent a variety of media platforms (print, digital, broadcast), for a two-day competition to develop innovative News propositions. This Hackdays theme is 'The  Future  of  News  Curation':  How might we curate and connect our News  Storytelling,  in  the  age  after  "the  stream"?

Your team should include a journalist, a designer and up to three developers. They will be expected to build a working prototype of a news app or digital service during the event. The BBC will be offering some instructional material on News Labs technology prior to the event, but there is no mandatory preparation required. Catering will be provided during the day on both days by the BBC, and the Global Editors Network will be providing an evening meal on day 1.
