The UK’s fastest growing forecourt operator, Euro Garages, has agreed to purchase a 1.1 acre site at Lomondgate in Dumbarton, forming a key element of the £135m development’s roadside services.
The move will see the opening of a new Esso petrol station with
a Spar convenience store, a Subway food to go outlet, a Greggs
take-away and Starbucks On The Go, on a site adjacent to the A82
dual carriageway, one of Scotland's busiest trunk roads.
The deal is subject to planning. A planning application
has been lodged with West Dunbartonshire Council and if approved
work will start on site in early 2014 and be completed by Autumn
the same year.
Privately owned, Euro Garages has 70 freehold owned sites in the
North of England and the Midlands and was voted Forecourt Operator
of the Year in 2013. The purchase of the Lomondgate site
forms part of the company's expansion into Scotland.
The nine acre Lomondgate Services site is already home to
a 60 bedroom Premier Inn, Malt & Myre Family Restaurant and Bar
and Scotland's first drive thru Costa Coffee.
Along with some of the 40,000 motorists passing daily, the
petrol station will service the residents and occupiers of
the multi-use Lomondgate development which will feature 338 homes,
and a 20 acre business park when complete. It is also home to world
class occupiers Aggreko and BBC Scotland. In total more than 700
people are already employed on the site.
John Menzies, Partner, Retail Services, Cushman & Wakefield,
who acted for the Lomondgate Partners, namely Walker Group and
Strathleven Regeneration C.I.C said: "When it comes to location you
would be hard pressed to beat the Lomondgate site which has a local
catchment area of more than 100,000 people and a population of 2.3
million within an hour's drive time.
Two parcels of land as well as a two and half acre site remain
for sale or let within Lomondgate's roadside services area.
