Riverside Museum attracts 210,000 visitors

15 Jul 2011

It is only three weeks since Glasgow's newest museum opened to the public and already 210,000 visitors have been to visit The Riverside Museum.

The figure is more than a quarter of the total number of people originally expected to visit the new attraction in its first year.

Riverside, which houses more than 3000 exhibits in more than 150 interactive displays, has proved popular, attracting 15,000 people on a single day.

Glasgow City Council leader Gordon Matheson said: "Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum has been hugely popular with visitors over the last five years and many of the lessons we learned during the refurbishment have been employed at Riverside.

"Both these attractions are of international standard and bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to Glasgow every year."
