MOBO Awards back in Glasgow

28 Mar 2011

A three year deal will see the MOBOs back in town this year, in 2013 and 2015. The 2013 MOBO event will be the first major event secured for the new Scottish National Arena at the SECC.

The MOBO Awards will return to Glasgow following a multi-year deal secured by Glasgow's City Partners. The star-studded event will take place in Glasgow in 2011, 2013 and again on 2015. This a huge commitment from MOBO and sends out a strong message about Glasgow's effectiveness in hosting events of this scale.

MOBO made urban music history in 2009 by moving out of London for the first time. The event took place at the SECC in Glasgow and was considered a phenomenal success by the MOBO team and the media. The strong partnership between Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Government, EventScotland and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau significantly contributed to the success of the event.

Securing an event of this scale is a significant step forward for Glasgow and Scotland as a major international events destination.

Media coverage alone for hosting MOBO is in excess of £4 million, with media value to Glasgow and Scotland over £2 million.

The 2013 MOBO event will be the first major event secured for the new Scottish National Arena at the SECC. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the investment made in the new facility. In addition, the 2015 event will see MOBO celebrate its 20th anniversary which is expected to generate additional publicity.
