Plans have been unveiled for a new £40 million bus link to serve Glasgow, with the opportunity to have Fastlink in place for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
An ultra modern bus operation is to link Glasgow city centre
with the SECC and the new Southern General
Hospital. Strathclyde Partnership for Transport has drawn up a
£40million business plan for the Fastlink scheme which has now been
presented to the Scottish Government. Bosses are hoping to hear
within weeks if ministers will fund the cost of the vital transport
project.
Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said
"Fastlink promises reliable, quality public transport which will
make Glasgow more sustainable, healthier and a more attractive
place in which to live, work and invest."
