New rented homes for Erskine

08 Apr 2011

Bridgewater Housing Association is to build 100 new homes in Erskine, creating new affordable rented accommodation in the town.

Almost 100 new homes are being built in Erskine to address the chronic shortage of affordable rented property in the town.

Bridgewater Housing Association (BHA) is about to begin work on a £10 million development which will provide 92 new houses and flats.

The development, in Rashielee North, is the first rented housing to be built in the town for 30 years. It will include two, three and four-apartment flats and terraced houses as well as greenspace and a children's play area.

There is a shortage of affordable, rented properties in the town, with 1400 people on Bridgewater's waiting list.

Many former BHA tenants bought their properties through Right to Buy legislation further eroding the number of available homes.

Only 50 BHA properties become available for social rent every year.
