The St. Enoch Centre has won a top international award for supporting Glasgow's unemployed

St. Enoch Centre has scooped a prestigious international award from the world's leading marketing body for global shopping centres for helping Glasgow's job hunters find new work opportunities.

The Centre beat strong competition to bag the ICSC Solal Silver Award at a glittering ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal on Thursday (17th June) for its St. Enoch Working employment initiative.

Against the backdrop of the current economic climate, St. Enoch Working was developed by the Centre's management team as an opportunity to work with the community and help people back into employment.  The project, which is a partnership between St. Enoch Centre, Glasgow's Regeneration Agencies, JobCentre Plus and Skills Development Scotland, has supported jobseekers using vacancies created as a result of the Centre's £100M redevelopment.

More than 250 jobs have been filled through the St. Enoch Working initiative since September 2009 with over 29 retailers throughout the Centre having used the service to find the perfect candidates for their vacancies.
