SIX athletes from the Scottish Alpine Ski Team are riding on the crest of a wave after being selected for the Junior Ski Team of Great Britain.

After a very successful season, national performance coach ROBs Gardner says it's all down to his talented youngsters, their new training programme and the indoor
snowslope at SNO!zone in Braehead's Xscape.

And this trio chose a novel way to get to the snow slope ... by boat down the River Clyde!

The indoor slope has enabled them to train all year round on real snow when the weather is too wild for outdoor skiing.

"Dry mats are good for introducing people to the basics, but you need real snow to practise more advanced moves," ROBS said.

"It's important to refine the team's skills over the summer and SNO!zone allows us to do that."

A total of 18 young athletes have been selected for 2011's Scottish team.
