Whitbread expects to create 50 full and part time jobs at the
Dumbarton Premier Inn and Table Table, which will occupy a 1.8 acre
site on the Lomondgate development, a mixed use scheme spearheaded
by Strathleven Regeneration Company and Walker Group
(Scotland).
Whitbread currently has plans for nine new Premier Inns and
restaurants in Scotland, representing investment in excess of
£42.65 million and the creation of approximately 420 jobs.
Kevin Murray, Acquisition Manager - North, for Whitbread Hotels
& Restaurants said: "We're very excited about bringing Premier
Inn to Dumbarton and our construction team has made a good start on
site this week. Lomondgate is an outstanding development and an
ideal location for us with great visitor access to Loch Lomond. Our
hotel will also be catalyst for further investment in Dumbarton and
will play a lead part in making Lomondgate a successful
regeneration and business story."

Welcoming this significant boost for the local community retiring
MP John McFall, who is chairman of Strathleven Regeneration
Company, said: "It is great news that it is now full steam ahead
for Premier Inn and Table Table, bringing new jobs to the area and
providing a vital local amenity not just for the business park at
the Lomondgate development but the whole area.
"This latest news follows Aggreko's announcement in March that it
had completed the purchase of a 16-acre site on Lomondgate for its
new £20m manufacturing and office facility and is a fantastic boost
for the local economy.
"It is amazing to see an empty derelict site coming back to life
and helping to create a brighter future for the area. We have to
congratulate our partners Walker Group for their determination and
drive to succeed despite a global recession."
Bruce Walker, Managing Director of Walker Group, said: "With all of
the infrastructure work now complete for Lomondgate, activity is
ramping up and we hope to have lots of other positive developments
and good news stories to announce in the months ahead."
The £100m Lomondgate project was launched in 2007 by Strathleven
Regeneration Company, (SRC) a public-private partnership
established with the support of West Dunbartonshire Council,
Scottish Enterprise and Diageo.
SRC formed a partnership with developer Walker Group to help
deliver its plans for a thriving new community on the site
providing 300 new homes, a new business location and destination
services on the A82 at a gateway to Loch Lomond & the Trossachs
National Park.

So far more than £14m has been invested by the Walker Group into
the development of Lomondgate, which includes significant local
road and infrastructure improvements, including the construction of
the new Lomondgate roundabout leading into the business park and
the other main elements of the project.
Lomondgate is already the home of BBC Scotland's drama production
facility where River City is made and which has hosted a wide range
of other productions, most recently The Deep starring Minnie
Driver, James Nesbit, and Goran Visnjic.
The partnership is in advanced legal negotiations with two major
housebuilders regarding the sale of the residential land parcels on
the Lomondgate site and announcements in this regard are expected
in the near future.
