IFSD Highly Commended at Major Regeneration Award

At the UK's most prestigious awards for regeneration Glasgow's International Financial Services District (IFSD) has been highly commended.

At a glittering awards ceremony in London for the UK Regeneration and Renewal Awards, the IFSD was highly commended in the categories for 'Regeneration Partnership of the Year' and for 'Boosting the Local Economy'. Since its launch in 2001, the IFSD has been developed by a partnership of the public and private sectors led by Scottish Enterprise and Glasgow City Council with over £1 billion has so far been invested to transform the previously run down area of the city centre.

Jim Watson, Director, Financial Services, Scottish Enterprise said, "We are delighted to be highly commended at such a prestigious awards and this reflects the strong relationships Scottish Enterprise and Glasgow City Council have forged with other public agencies and the private sector to drive forward the regeneration of this vitally important corner of Glasgow city centre." Glasgow's success follows closely the recent news that Tesco Personal Finance and esure are creating over 1,300 new jobs in the city. Organised by the publishers of Regeneration and Renewal magazine, the annual awards are made in 22 different categories and attract hundreds of entries from across the UK.
