Significant commercial developments in the International Financial Services District of Glasgow will be completed in the course of 2009, with some projects already nearing completion.

141 Bothwell Street is a £30m office development in one of Glasgow's busiest commercial areas. The building is due for completion in February 2009.

Also heading towards completion is the mixed use development Cuprum at Cadogan Square which will provide almost 100,000 ft2 of office accommodation as well as 122 apartments.

Another major event to celebrate the start of 2009 was the topping out of the £30m Copenhagen Building on Hope Street. The Copenhagen development will open for business in June, bringing 65,000 sq ft of high quality office space to the District.

Later in the year other building in the area are due for completion: Capella in August, Clarion in September and One Waterloo Street by the end of the year, all part of the pipeline of 800,000 sq ft of Grade A office buildings currently on site in the IFSD.

Glasgow's International Financial Services District (IFSD) was established in 2001 and has already attracted 15,000 jobs to Glasgow and almost £1 bn of investment. 

Glasgow has been one of the fastest growing cities in the UK in its rate of job creation. Almost 80,000 new jobs have been located in the city since 1995, and almost 40,000 extra city residents have found work over this same period. In terms of GVA per capita, a wealth creation measure, Glasgow is one of the star performers among UK cities and the IFSD has played an important role is this success.
