Glasgow's IFSD won a prestigious UK award from the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) at a glittering ceremony at Nottingham Ice Arena on September 11th 2008.

One of 350 entries from across the UK, the IFSD won the Best Public/Private Partnership Award, reflecting the achievements of Glasgow City Council and Scottish Enterprise in working with the private sector to attract almost one billion pounds of private sector investment to the IFSD since 2001.

Councillor George Ryan, Executive Member for Development and Regeneration, Glasgow City Council said, "This is fantastic recognition for the city of Glasgow on a UK wide scale and the award underlines the scale of the transformation that has taken place to create the IFSD and attract some of the world's biggest names in finance to locate there."

Jim Watson, Senior Director, Company Growth West, Scottish Enterprise said, "It is especially pleasing that this award recognises the incredibly close and successful working relationship that Glasgow City Council and Scottish Enterprise have forged with the private sector to attract significant investment and jobs for the city."

APSE's Annual Service Awards recognise best practice from local authorities and their public sector partners across the United Kingdom.
