Brodies LLP hosts Urban Regeneration event in conjunction with SURF

10 Apr 2007

Brodies LLP and the Scottish Urban Regeneration Forum (SURF) are teaming up to widen understanding and collaboration in Scottish regeneration efforts.

Urban regeneration is neither private sector redevelopment nor public / private sector partnering in the sense of PFI/PPP. It is a new politico-economic construct designed to achieve sustainable physical, economic and social development in rundown urban areas throughout Scotland.

Through Brodies' involvement in urban regeneration projects, such as the Oatlands, Clyde waterfront project, its property team has developed and garnered a fundamental understanding of the regeneration game.

In order to share its experiences and consider some practical and commercial solutions, in the context of urban regeneration, Brodies LLP, in conjunction with SURF, is running a half-day seminar programme in Glasgow on 26th October 2007. As well as speakers from Brodies and SURF, there will also be speakers from developer, Gladedale and The Royal Bank of Scotland offering an insight into their experiences and knowledge of the regeneration game.

Playing the Generation Game will consist of two simultaneous seminar streams.

Stream 1, "The Properties of Urban Regeneration", will look at urban regeneration in the specific context of property.
Stream 2, "Managing Urban Regeneration", will look more closely at the structuring and project management aspects of urban regeneration.

"SURF is delighted to be part of Brodies 'Playing the Regeneration Game' seminar. This kind of event is a good opportunity to broaden networks and deepen co-operation towards more successful and sustainable regeneration in Scotland."  Andy Milne, Chief Executive, SURF
