Wilson Bowden unveils latest phase of vision for Atlantic Quay

Leading commercial property developer Wilson Bowden has unveiled plans for the latest phase of its ambitious development at Glasgow's Atlantic Quay.

Work has now begun on site at 4 Atlantic Quay, the newest addition to the city's rapidly growing new business quarter, which will provide almost 74,000 square feet of Grade A office space on a prominent corner location at the waterfront. The new building is one of a portfolio of six being developed by Wilson Bowden in the area and dovetails with Glasgow City Council's ongoing regeneration of the city's waterfront and the major improvements which are being made to the city's public realm.

Atlantic Quay, which lies at the heart of Glasgow's International Financial Services District, already boasts an impressive line-up of blue chip occupiers including Royal Bank of Scotland, BT, AXA, Scottish Power, Cap Gemini, the Scottish Qualifications Authority and Scottish Enterprise, with more than 7,000 people being employed in the area.

Wilson Bowden's vision for Atlantic Quay is to further develop the area as a modern business quarter offering landmark office buildings and enhancing a mixed use location which also encompasses housing, retail and leisure. Plans are now well advanced for luxury housing, shopping amenities and upmarket bars and restaurants with the whole scheme being drawn together by a high quality public realm.

Jim Fitzsimons, Development Director at Wilson Bowden, said: "Atlantic Quay already is already playing a key role in shaping Glasgow's future business success."

"The last 12 months alone have seen take-up of more than 240,000 square feet of office space in the Atlantic Quay area. With work on building 4 now under way - the only newbuild currently under construction in the city centre - we are able to offer potential occupiers high specification standards and high quality space which has the flexibility to be tailored to suit a variety of requirements."

"A great deal has already been achieved at Atlantic Quay - that much is clear from the quality of the occupiers who have already moved in - but our ambition is to see the location really transformed by adding retail, housing and leisure elements to the overall picture."

"It's only by drawing people into the area and encouraging them to remain there that we will really begin to alter perceptions and give Glasgow the waterfront it deserves."
